6/28/18: Local Roadwork Starting Late July - Watch for Detours, Equipment

2018 Street Reconstruction Project

Several streets in Half Moon Bay will be under construction this summer, as the City moves forward with planned Capital Improvement Program (CIP) projects identified in the Pavement Management and Traffic Safety Program.

Construction is scheduled to begin the last week of July to reconstruct failed pavement on the following streets:

  • Naples Avenue from Roosevelt Boulevard to southerly terminus
  • Railroad Avenue from Grove Street to Metzgar Street
  • Church Street from Mill Street to northern cul-de-sac
  • Kelly Avenue from San Benito Street to eastern cul-de-sac
  • Magnolia Street from Main Street to western cul-de-sac
  • Miramontes Point Road from Highway 1 to Canada Cove entrance
  • San Benito Street from Miramontes Street to southern cul-de-sac

The work is expected to be completed by the end of October, weather permitting.

Depending on the location, street reconstruction will range from 3-inch deep asphalt surface reconstruction to 12-inch deep full-depth “base” repair. Other project improvements include a new concrete sidewalk along the south side of Miramontes Point Road, ADA compliant curb ramps at Church Street, Kelly Avenue, Magnolia Street, Miramontes Point Road and San Benito Street, and drainage improvements at Railroad Avenue, Magnolia Street and Kelly Avenue.

Motorists, pedestrians, and bicyclists are advised to be aware of this work, and watch for equipment, lane closures, and detours.

A more specific schedule will be posted before construction begins. Notices will be mailed residences and businesses affected by the work.  Please direct any questions to Denice Hutten, Associate Engineer at
